When Is A "Pet" Not A Pet
Pet Burmese Python Strangles Child
I shudder at the thought; It appears that an eight-foot long albino Burmese Python, similar to the one Steve and Terry Irwin are shown holding has strangled a two-year old child in Florida. And once again a child has succumbed to the "boyfriend" syndrome. The 911 call is horrifying and I only offer it to emphasize my position on "pets" of this type.
Gee, if the boyfriend is hysterical how do you think Mom feels right about now? And wait till the child's real father finds out that Mom's new boyfriend's SNAKE killed his daughter! How would you like to live with that image in your head the rest of your life?
People, people, people, how many times do I have to point this out. If you own an animal that normally lives in a jungle, strangles it's prey for food, has teeth the size of a great white shark, and is unpredictable, to say the least. And if this animal is kept in a domestic situation, exposed to family members and strangers alike, well, in my humble opinion, it's just a tragedy waiting to happen.
A "pet" that has the capability to KILL you or a member of your family, or your girlfriend's daughter, guess what? It ain't a pet! It's that simple. You snake lovers out there, close your eyes, spin around three times and repeat after me; AN EIGHT-FOOT LONG BURMESE PYTHON IS NOT A PET!!
Except maybe under extreme circumstances like in another country, Cambodia, for example. That might be enough distance for me to be away from a snake of this size, since I live here in the good ole USA about 12,000 miles from Cambodia.
