About
Having not had a pet for a while I had almost forgotten just how big a responsibility they are, especially when things go wrong and their life takes an unexpected turn. But shortly after adopting (recently) a 3 year- old chocolate lab from a shelter I was suddenly and without warning, not only reminded of it, but in just the few hours I had known this dog came face to face with the gut-wrenching prospect of losing him. Luckily, however, in my case, there is a happy ending. (see Duke's Story in the My Pet category)
I am not a Veterinarian nor am I connected in any way to the pet care industry but after 40 years of owning a variety of birds, dogs, cats (do you ever own a cat?) and a number of other creatures I am not exactly a stranger to caring for animals. Simply put I am a pet owner just like you that wants to do the best for my dog and grateful that he was able to be saved by a combination of quick diagnosis and state-of-the-art Veterinary care.
Duke's kennel mates were not so fortunate, put down at a young age and it's in their memory that this site is dedicated. Here is where I will share all of the pet resources I find useful for my pet and other things about pets in general that I find that may be of interest to you and your baby pet.
