Interesting article. I know definately that animals can adapt to climate change you just have to know which animal normal climate and adapt them at the proper time of year. I think we should all do our best to be responsible and dilegent to take care of the earth, but I don't feel we should get to carried away with it.

I was chatting to a friend the other night, and he wasn't convinced that global warming isn't a result of macro effects. When I asked him what Macro effects, what has changed in the past 100 years other than human development, he didn't have an answer.

I don't think he truely believed that global warming was being caused by Macro effects, he was just unwilling to accept the obvious truth that we are to blame.

The first step is to accept our involvement, then we can move more quickly to putting the solution in place.

I've been training dogs for 34 years and I can't really say if dogs shed more now than they did 30 years ago. It's an interesting thing to ponder, but I don't know how you could prove it was happening if you wanted to.

The warming of the planet is having a huge effect on amphibians in particular. I have no idea if it's making dogs and cats shed more but there are some wild animals out there being affected big time. I've heard we not have frogs on the planet for much longer the ways things are headed.

Thanks for your comment John, I was asked to write this for an environmental group and they didn't furnish me with any statistics on how much warmer it is now (you suggest 1 degree celcius) seems hard to believe that a change of just one degree would cause that but if you are a pet owner or animal lover you know that animals are very sensitive to these things so I wouldn't doubt a degree could do it.

We have two long-haired cats in our home and even if it is not too hot here, they seem to be shedding more than before. Even our short-haired cats seem to be shedding unusually. I liked the first picture here in your article, it's so very very cute!! Reminds me of Simon's Cat (www.simonscat.com/). Their videos there are very funny, especially the "Cat Man Do" LOL
