Bull-Terrier vs Porcupine!
Dogs That Tangle With Cactus And Porcupines Pay Dearly For Their Curiosity
I live in the desert southwest of Arizona and my dog has gotten into some nasty scrapes with Cholla cactus (just about the worst there is due to the tiny little spines you can't even see and the risk of infection), Prickly Pear cactus and even bumped up against a rather large Saguaro cactus. I thought those things were bad until I saw these pictures of a bull terrier that got into a wrestling match with a porcupine (the match was declared a draw!). A friend of mine sent me these pictures which are amazing. Supposedly this dog was in his backyard in southern California, minding his own business (yeah, right!)….until this porcupine invaded his territory.
This dog may have been upset at the intrusion of another animal in his domain but even a smart dog like a bull terrier should know he is no match for a porcupine. Jeez, how would you like to be the guy that had to pull out all of those needles? I guess we have to give this dog credit for sticking (ha!) up for his home and property but it turned out to be a bad decision.
A Dog That Resembles A Pin Cushion With Four Legs
A veterinarian sedated the dog (I sure hope so), and then removed a total of 1,347 porcupine quills! The good news is the dog survived – the bad news is that there is a naked porcupine out there freezing his *** off! Lets hope they both learned a valuable lesson.
I'm greatfull that this dog recovered but some aren't so lucky. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about the grief I am going to feel when my dog dies – even though he is only a healthy six-years old! Its not a pitbull, it's a bullterrier. Might want to correct that.
